Palette and Paint box
  • Foam plates to use as a palette
  • “Fishing tackle” style plastic box to store paint

Paint
For the new student, a good paint to begin with is Artist Loft available at Michaels. 
  • Artist Loft Acrylic Paint Set 12pc Please note these tubes are very small.
  • Artist Loft Acrylic Paint Set 24 pc I recommend this set.
  • One Liquitex Titanium White Basics Acrylic Paint 4oz. 

A third option is to purchase Liquitex Basics Acrylic Paints. Product sold separately in 4oz. tubes. 
  • Ivory Black
  • Titanium White
  • Cobalt Blue
  • Cadmium Yellow Medium-you may substitute Deep 
  • Sap Green or Hookers Green
  • Cadmium Red Medium-you may substitute Naphthol Crimson
  • Raw Umber
  • Burnt Umber 

As you progress, I suggest investing in “artist quality” paints. You will be much happier with your results. 
Painting Surfaces
If you are a first time student, please purchase your canvas after the first class. Returning students should come to class with a painting surface. 
  • Stretched canvases- Art stores sell prestretched canvases. Make sure the canvas is stretched evenly and tightly. Canvases must be pre-gessoed. 
  • Canvas Boards.
Brushes
  • Synthetic brushes-available at Michaels.
  • Palette knife for mixing paint.

Other Supplies
  • Sketch pad-Canson Mixed Media xl pad 7x10 inches. Pad is for fundamental painting lessons, notes and sketching. 
  • Pen, pencil, eraser
  • Paper towels
  • Acrylic brush cleaner-dish soap also works.
  • Water containers -Two large enough to hold brushes and not fall over.
  • Small spray bottle.
  • Samples and/or photos of your work-optional.
