STUDIO ARTISTS | BUY ART! | CURRENT EXHIBIT AT THE STUDIO | CURRENT EXHIBIT AT CROSSROADS | PAST EXHIBITIONS
During my younger years, growing up in Texas, I first started working in graphite and casually explored different types of subjects to draw. I didn’t consider art as a career and it gradually disappeared from my life as I pursued other endeavors, started a family and relocated to Virginia.
Years after we settled here near Richmond, I picked up my pencils and found a renewed passion in art. Graphite is the main medium I work in and enjoy – there is something very peaceful about sitting for hours at my table and watching the subtle value shifts, the contrasts of black and white, and the dynamic of shadow and light develop as the drawing takes shape. Though my subjects vary, I tend to be pulled in by wildlife with its unpoised and natural simplicity.
